Service Division: New Jersey
Precast Services was contracted to complete the precast erection of a ten-level, 975-space precast concrete parking garage for the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The new structure will support the adjacent Cancer Pavilion, which serves as the state’s first free-standing cancer hospital. This major addition expands access to healthcare while providing essential parking for patients, staff and visitors.

Precast Services delivered reliable, precise precast erection for the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey parking garage, reinforcing their expertise in supporting complex healthcare, municipal, and commercial projects across the Northeast.
The basement level of the garage houses a central utility plant, which reduced the available footprint for crane placement during the precast erection phase. To reach the farthest picks, extending approximately 170 feet, the team deployed a large crawler crane equipped with 280 feet of combined main boom and luffing jib. This configuration allowed for safe and accurate placement of long-span precast components despite the restricted conditions.
Precast Services’ own Bo Kusznir played a key role during early design planning to help ensure the structure’s overall constructability. His involvement supported lift planning, sequencing strategies and layout considerations that improved efficiency and limited potential delays. Located in downtown New Brunswick, the project required ongoing coordination with the community. The New Brunswick Police Department partnered closely with the team to manage traffic, allowing precast deliveries to arrive with minimal disruption to the public.
The parking garage is a critical component of the expanding medical campus surrounding the Rutgers Cancer Institute. The use of precast concrete provided predictable installation sequencing, and long-term durability needed for a high-traffic healthcare facility. Precast erection supports rapid construction timelines, which is especially beneficial for active urban environments where minimizing disruption is essential.
This structure will play a long-term role in supporting patient access and overall hospital operations. With nearly one thousand parking spaces, it strengthens the transportation framework that serves one of New Jersey’s most important healthcare providers.

A coordinated effort among several industry leaders contributed to the successful execution of
this precast erection project:
Each partner brought essential technical expertise and supported a safe, organized and collaborative build.
The Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey parking garage stands as another example of Precast Services’ commitment to reliable and precise precast erection solutions. The team continues to support complex healthcare, municipal and commercial developments throughout the Northeast with proven expertise and a focus on quality.
