“Clean work and a responsive team both in the field and
on the management side. We’re happy working with PSI to deliver a quality garage to the City of Newark.”
-Paul Scollo, Project Management, High Concrete Group
We are proud to have completed the construction of a state-of-the-art, 2-story parking garage as part of the expansive $49 million Newark Police and Fire Training Facility. This garage, comprising 195 precast pieces, is located on the historic site of the former William H. Brown Academy school building in Wilmington, Delaware. The school had remained vacant since a devastating fire in 2017. Our team meticulously managed the construction process, ensuring that every aspect of the project adhered to the highest standards of quality and safety. The completed garage is a testament to our commitment to excellence and our ability to deliver complex projects on time, even under challenging circumstances.
Constructing the Newark Police and Fire Parking Garage on the bustling Bergen Street in Newark, New Jersey, presented unique challenges that required innovative solutions. The jobsite’s limited footprint, located adjacent to the newly constructed training facility, necessitated precise planning and execution. We employed a Liebherr 1300 SX crawler crane with a reduced main boom to safely and efficiently erect the parking structure within the tight confines. This reduction demanded careful attention to crane positioning and the available radii, ensuring the safety of our crew and the public while maintaining the project’s timeline. Despite the heavy traffic and pedestrian activity in the area, our team successfully navigated these challenges, demonstrating our commitment to safety and efficiency in every phase of construction.
The successful completion of the Newark Police and Fire Parking Garage was a result of efficient teamwork, seamless collaboration, and clear communication among all project partners. Key partners in this project included:
Our ability to coordinate effectively ensured that every aspect of the project progressed smoothly, from the initial planning stages to the final touches. By fostering a collaborative environment, we were able to address challenges promptly and maintain a steady workflow, delivering a quality structure that meets the needs of the City of Newark.
