The Ronkonkoma Hub Parking Garage enhances Station Yards with safe, well-planned accessibility that drives community growth and connection in Ronkonkoma.
Precast Services erected and grouted a new five-level parking garage at the Station Yards development in Ronkonkoma, Long Island. This transit-oriented project spans 53 acres around the Ronkonkoma Long Island Railroad station and is designed to bring together residential, retail, office, and entertainment spaces. The garage provides essential parking for residents, workers, and visitors, making it a cornerstone of the development.
The construction team faced significant technical challenges during this project. The site drainage system included a large underground leaching galley system located directly beneath the area where the crane needed to operate. To address this, the team implemented a carefully planned coordination strategy.
The gallies were installed only after the crane moved past them, but before precast elements covered the area. This sequence ensured the gallies could be placed using conventional digging equipment without interfering with the erection process. It was a precise balance of timing and logistics that required close communication across all teams.
Adding to the complexity, the site’s location immediately adjacent to Long Island’s MacArthur Airport required special crane safety measures. These precautions were essential to maintain compliance and ensure safe operations in a restricted airspace environment. The ability to execute this work without delays or safety incidents reflects the high level of planning and expertise brought to the project.
